In
1981, Richard Skipper and Tommy Hicks formed SKIHI
Enterprises, it's name derived from the two
founders' last names. In the beginning, SKIHI Enterprises
started with the
principals as the only employees. The focus was not to exceed the
capabilities of the company personnel or overextend the operating
capital available. Due to the respect and loyalty that existed between
the principals and other personnel in the industry, the employee base
grew at a remarkable pace.
SKIHI
today is a full service mechanical /
industrial contractor with design-build capabilities, with 325 employees
and a 38,000 square foot headquarters, office and fabrication facility. The philosophy behind
the company's success is controlled growth. SKIHI performed $1 million volume in their first year, $4 million the second
year, $16 million in 1998, $33 million in 2000 and just under $ 45 million in
2004.
As
noted above, revenues were up for 2004, SKIHI Enterprises completed several large, high-profile
projects. Among these projects were the University of North Texas Health
Science Center in Gainsville, the Automated People Mover at DFW Airport,
and the Methodist Hospital Renovations in Dallas. We have expanded our
office area to facilitate growth in our Industrial and Service
Departments. SkiHi continues to be
proactive in our industry. We have several employees who serve as
officers, board members and representatives to industry associations, as
well as three employees who are instructors for the Construction
Education Foundation.
